YOLO @ SFF 2008

Singapore Fashion Festival

Hailed as one of Asia's most influential public fashion events, Singapore Fashion Festival (SFF) is about to sweep Singapore with fashion fever! Last year's Festival brought to town international supermodels such as Ai Tominaga, Anna Watanabe and Antoinette Ataro. SFF 2007 also showcased top brands' Spring/Summer 2007 and Fall/Winter 2007 collections, straight from the world's top shows in New York, Paris and Milan, and included appearances by celebrity designers Matthew Williamson and Vivienne Tam, who personally presented her Fall/Winter collection hot off the runway from New York.

Get ready for this year's action-packed Singapore Fashion Festival, which will feature a stunning list of iconic international, regional and local designers, present the latest trends, and highlight new talents and rising stars on the fashion scene. The eclectic 10-day line-up includes celebrated designers such as Carlos Miele, Matthew Williamson and Singapore-born Ashley Ishlam. Head-turners Emma Pei, Erin O Connor and Marcus Schenkenberg will up the glam factor. Don't miss "Asia Wow", held at Raffles City, which unveils the unique, original creations of four Asian designers. Up to 15 brands from China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore will also sell apparel, jewellery, accessories, bags and more at a Bazaar located at Raffles City daily during the Festival.

Taking pride of place in Singapore Fashion Festival 2008, Greenpeas worked with Singapore textile and fashion designer Angelynn Tan to create their first capsule collection of bamboo fibre ladies’ fashion tops. The creative collaboration with Yellow Octopus brought the eco collection under the brand of YOLO, and will be launched at Raffles City’s "Asia Wow” Fashion Retail Bazaar from 28 March to 6 April. Stay tuned as fashion and eco-consciousness go hand in hand to dazzle and inspire!

Greenpeas Eco Bazaar
Intrigued by fashion's newest eco-trends evidenced by best-sellers such as Anya Hindmarch’s I Am Not A Plastic Bag bag and Tamsin Blanchard’s book Green is the New Black? Don't miss the bustling Greenpeas Eco Bazaar happening from 17 to 20 April at Raffles City Basement. Think stylish items made of trash and beautiful clothes re-conditioned from old castaways that would otherwise clog up landfills, and you’ll know this is a bazaar with a difference. Environment-friendly wares include organic cosmetics from ATOS Wellness, exciting wearables from Exofficio and Modern Vintage, Xenia’s bamboo fiber shawls, designer footwear from Terra Plana and Nuabs and functional eco lifestyle products from Greenpeas Eco Lifestyle. Not forgetting, get your hands on limited edition YOLO bamboo fabric designer wear!

Angelynn Tan

It all started with a love for art. For Angelynn Tan, artistic inclinations became the creative force hat drove her exquisite designs and flamboyant textiles. Angelynn was awarded the prestigious Singapore Young Designers Award in 2002, and went on to represent Singapore in the Asian Young Designers Award. In that same year, she was awarded Best Graduate Award at the Singapore/London Graduate Fashion Showcase. Backed by an illustrious record, Angelynn was invited to participate in the prestigious London Fashion Week 2003.

Angelynn’s innovative treatment of fabrics sets her designs apart. Fabrics in her hands are often ‘rediscovered’ through unconventional means such as ripping and burning to create desired effects. In Singapore Fashion Festival 2008, watch Angelynn transform bamboo fibre into a fashion statement as she unveils the YOLO Eco Collection. Stay tuned to this site to get a piece of the action!

Yolo Eco collection

Understated charm is in. Expect fresh, flirty floral prints in subtle colours, and even sublime black prints on black. Flatteringly feminine, with soft hues and flowing lines, Yolo Eco Collection juxtaposes modern woman’s femininity and self-assured nature with the traits of bamboo fibre – strength and suppleness.  Made wholly from bamboo fibre, Yolo Eco Collection introduces the benefits of this unique material to the Singaporeans. Fabric made from bamboo fibre is beautifully soft, cool, comfortable, natural, pesticide-free, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-static, UV protective, 100 per cent biodegradable and three times more absorbent than cotton. It is also light and silky –qualities similar to more expensive materials such as cashmere.

Borne of the groundbreaking creative collaboration between prolific textile and fashion designer Angelynn Tan, Greenpeas Eco Lifestyle and design team from Yellow Octopus, Yolo Eco collection will be launched at the Singapore Fashion Festival’s “Asia Wow” launched at Fashion Retail Bazaar from 28 March to 6 April.
